In January of 2005, Express Recycling was
opened in Wisconsin Rapids at 480 Strodman Avenue, the previous site of
Ken's Salvage. Initially, Express Recycling only accepted used
beverage cans. However, it quickly expanded to accept most other forms
of nonferrous metals. Joe Kozicki, whose brainchild it was to open
Express Recycling, soon developed a passion for the concept of recycling and
the potential to creatively expand his own business.
Matt Zacher, Joe's son-in-law, joined
Express Recycling in 2006 after recently moving his family from Milwaukee.
Seeing the potential for a future in recycling caused Matt to make a
transition from a career in social work. As Matt assumed responsibility
for operations of the shop in Wisconsin Rapids, Joe began to realize the need
for a similar shop in nearby Stevens Point, WI.
Damon Kozicki, Joe's son, assisted the
others in starting a Stevens Point operation at it's current location of 801c
Francis St. Express Recycling in Stevens Point opened it's doors in July
of 2006. All product was initially transferred back to the Wisconsin
Rapids facility in order to be shipped. Damon gradually transitioned
from his career in physical therapy to assume full time responsibility for
operations in the Stevens Point shop in November 2007.
We are currently and continuously
researching possible areas for future expansion to coincide with our vision.
